Aspire Session
November 25, 2024
A #CPR training session, conducted by Dr. Rajeev Jain, introduced students to Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), a critical life-saving technique. Dr. Jain explained that brain cells begin to die within 24 minutes of oxygen deprivation, stressing the need for prompt action in emergencies.\r\nUsing the acronym DR. CAB, the key steps of CPR were outlined:\r\n 1. D – Danger: Ensure the site is safe from visible (e.g., fire) and unseen (e.g., infections) dangers.\r\n 2. R – Response and Respiration: Check responsiveness by shaking and shouting. If unresponsive and not breathing, call 108.\r\n 3. C – Circulation: Check the carotid pulse for 5–10 seconds. If absent, perform chest compressions at a depth of 2–2.4 inches and a rate of 100–120 per minute.\r\n 4. A – Airway: Open the airway using the head-tilt, chin-lift method (non-trauma) or the jaw-thrust method (trauma).\r\n 5. B – Breathing: Deliver 2 rescue breaths, ensuring visible chest rise. Maintain a 30:2 compression-to-ventilation ratio over 5 cycles in 2 minutes.\r\nAt the end of the session, students actively participated by performing CPR on mannequins under Dr. Jain’s supervision, applying the demonstrated techniques. Students gained hands-on knowledge of CPR, enabling them to handle cardiac emergencies effectively. The training highlighted the importance of staying calm, assessing the situation, and delivering high-quality CPR to save lives.
